About Mehran Baluch
Mehran Baluch was raised by muppets and droids, which honestly explains a lot. He writes epic fantasy filled with swordplay, sorcery, airships, and the complicated messiness of being human. A long-time Dungeons & Dragons player and worldbuilder, he blends classic fantasy tropes - quests, ancient empires, haunted catacombs - with modern pacing and emotionally grounded characters.
Mehran has written many short stories across fantasy, science fiction, and the wonderfully strange. One of these was published in Aphelion, an online speculative fiction webzine. He holds an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Sussex (2004) and is a graduate of the Clarion West Write-a-Thon summer writing programme (2020).
His debut duology, Rogue’s Rebellion, follows Kyrin the Grey, a disgraced ex-hero pulled back into a shadow war of relics, tyrants, and long-buried magic. Expect cursed artifacts, skyborne battles, found family, tangled loyalties, and flawed heroes trying to do their best in a world falling apart.
Mehran lives in London, where he drinks too much coffee, plays far too many tabletop games, and spends an unreasonable amount of time plotting the downfall of fictional tyrants. When he isn’t writing, he can be found wandering city streets, playing D&D with friends, and watching genre TV.
